Maldegem //
Public Road

Maldegem is a dynamic East-Flanders’ town in the Meetjesland, a pronouncedly agriculture and food-oriented rural area with characteristic man-made landscapes. It has polders in the north and forestry in the south.

Maldegem got its nickname ‘the Loyal one’ when Philippe III of Maldegem distinguished himself by his loyalty to the Flemish Count in 1300 .

Places of interest in Maldegem are the City hall, which was built in 1909 after the City halls of Sint-Niklaas and Knokke. The station site in Maldegem has a Stoomcentrum [Steam centre] where the annual Steam
festival is held.

The centres of Maldegem, Adegem and Kleit are blue zones but to be validly parked a European blue parking disc must be displayed.

This blue area has 484 sites.
