Foundation Stone for Parking Warande Turnhout laid
Anyone well-acquainted with the city of Turnhout knows there have been parking problems for years now. The number of drivers who need to get to the centre of the city to live, work or for leisure and access to services has been growing from year to year. Consequently, there is enormous traffic pressure on the inner city. With the construction of a second event hall for the cultural centre ‘the Warande’ the need for extra parking facilities became an even more crucial issue.
In 2005 a public tender was issued. In May 2006 the project was awarded to the VINCI Park - MBG - Van de Heyning consortium. On November 8 last, the franchise agreement was signed for the construction and running of a three-story underground parking lot which can accommodate 420 cars and will also house a bicycle storage facility. The Parking will be at the Cultural Centre Warande Turnhout and will be accessible through the Kasteeldreef.
Within the consortium, MBG and Vandeheyning will be in charge of the construction and VINCI Park will look after the running.
